The SEKISUI European Football Tournament 2019

Football unites! Since 2016, employee football teams from all over Europe compete against each other in the annual SEKISUI European Football Tournament. In 2019, the event took place in Herkenbosch, the Netherlands. It was a lovely weekend with exciting matches, fair play and friendship.

On the 6th and 7th of September 2019, the fourth edition of the SEKISUI European Football Tournament took place in Herkenbosch, the Netherlands. Nine teams from all over Europe represented their SEKISUI company.

The European Football Tournament is always a two-day-event: On the first day, the participants arrive, get to know each other, meet old colleagues from the other European companies, join forces and master different tasks in ice-breaking activities. For some of the players it is a great reunion each year, and for the “newbies” a warm welcome to the SEKISUI family.

On the second day, all players meet at the football pitch. In 2019, the beautiful weather also motivated many colleagues, family members and friends to come by to cheer for their team and to spend a good time at the pitch.

The nine teams competed against each other after a sophisticated plan. You could see ambitious teams, fair play, a fun atmosphere and the friendly interaction of colleagues from all over Europe. Javier Rojo from SEKISUI SPECIALTY CHEMICALS EUROPE in Spain said: “As usual, the event is a lot of fun! Most of us are amateur players, but it is great to have our own SEKISUI European Championship. Everyone here has a good time and enjoys being part of it.”

After the playoffs and a thrilling final, a team from SEKISUI S-LEC in Roermond, the Netherlands, won the cup. During the award ceremony, all team members gathered their last forces to celebrate their win to the fullest on the stage. But as everyone is a winner at the SEKISUI European Football Tournament, they shared their joy with everyone.

Football Bet 2019: Graham Bates from SEKISUI DIAGNOSTICS (UK) was the lucky winner

Before the annual tournament, SEKISUI employees from all offices had the possibility to participate by betting on one team for a charitable purpose (for free). The prize money went to a good cause of the winner’s choice.

In 2019, Graham Bates from SEKISUI DIAGNOSTICS (UK) was the lucky winner of the Football Bet and was pleased to support a non-profit organization close to his heart. He handed over the cheque with the prize money of 430 EUR to the charity organization “Heart of Kent Hospice”.

Heart of Kent Hospice cares for people with a terminal illness. Whether at home or in the Hospice based in Aylesford, Kent, the team provides support to patients, their families and carers to live in comfort and dignity through their illness.

Hopefully the money donated by SEKISUI brought a smile to many faces!
