EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Engineer

The position of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Engineer is located in the Film Plant in Roermond with a focus on the factory part. The EHS Engineer focuses on all required activities based on: occupational health, environment and safety. The RI&E (Risk Inventory & Evaluation) is central to the various activities.
In this position, the EHS Engineer has regular contacts with external consultancy firms and suppliers and internal contacts from top to bottom about various EHS aspects. The working language in the position is Dutch. English is used in communication with Japanese colleagues within the Film Plant.
Job description
Ensuring the practical handling of daily matters based on environment, health and safety and act as a professional discussion partner in this area for the Film Plant in such a way that legal regulations are complied with, these matters are handled correctly, a constructive contribution is offered in the long term, whereby the necessary matters will be improved.

SEKISUI S-LEC B.V. in Roermond is part of SEKISUI S-LEC EUROPE B.V., which in turn is part of SEKISUI CHEMICAL Co. Ltd, the Japanese chemical company.
SEKISUI S-LEC is the producer of PVB interlayer film and produces in six locations around the world.
The PVB interlayer film has applications in so-called laminated glass in the automotive and architectural industries. SEKISUI S-LEC uses two production locations to supply its own required raw materials, namely the PVB resin.
In addition to the production location in Minakuchi, Japan, the location in Geleen has been actively producing PVB resin since early 2007.
The production location in Roermond started in 1996 and consists of a sales department, administrative department, technical department, and a production department division.
Approximately 145 employees are active within Roermond, 50% of whom are direct staff.
The important tasks and responsibilities are
- You, also as a prevention officer, are responsible for supporting and implementing the safety and environmental policy for the branch in Roermond;
- You ensure the implementation of risk analyses (RIE) and, in consultation with the organization, translate these into objectives and action plans to continuously improve the safety level;
- You carry out incident and accident investigations in collaboration with the department manager;
- You provide solicited and unsolicited advice to the organization and its employees with regard to the environment, health and safety;
- You are responsible for EHS-related matters, such as internal inspection rounds, registration of waste flows and energy, personal protective equipment and improvement processes.
Personal profile
- Our EHS Engineer is someone who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- You are capable of acting at various levels (internally and externally).
- You excel at making the right translation between the organization and EHS issues.
- You are creative and pragmatic and have a strong sense of responsibility.
- You are someone who can set a vision in the organization within your field and you possess natural leadership.
- You have completed at least a relevant (technical) bachelor education, supplemented with a relevant training/education like for instance Safety Science (MVK) or Safety Engineering (HVK).
- In addition, you have at least 3 years of experience in a similar position (preferably in a production environment). Additional training in Environmental Technology is an advantage in this position.
- You are familiar with the applicable legislation and regulations in the field of safety and the environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office package is necessary, for example Excel, Power BI and Word are used.
- Your maturity and 'hands on' mentality enable you to create support and integrate (policy) activities into the organization in a pragmatic manner.
- You are stress-resistant and can act quickly when a situation requires it.
- Your character traits can be characterized as proactive, enthusiastic, stress-resistant and flexible.
- You master the English language, spoken and written.
The EHS engineer reports to the EHS-manager of the Film Plant.
